RTÉ Lyric Fm Friday Concert February 24th 2017 (Soloist)

Friday 24th February The Friday Concert with Paul Herriott Paul Herriott presents tonight's concert live from the National Concert Hall with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra in a celebration of Tchaikovsky. Led by the ‘dynamism and steely-finger energy’ (CultureNorthernIreland.com) of Belfast-born piano virtuoso Barry Douglas, our two-part celebration of the master of melody, Tchaikovsky, begins with a brace of tune-filled Piano Concertos: the First, resplendent with one of the most familiar and lavish themes in the repertoire, and his last work, the athletically graceful Third. The Tempest is a fantasy overture of dramatic richness, Romeo and Juliet a romantic and ripe evocation of Shakespeare’s young ‘star-crossed lovers’.
