CNBLUE Cant Stop Concert in Manila (CSPH 20140919) - Manila Manila Manila Jung YongHwa
Not even the life-threatening tropical storm Mario could prevent the fans from trooping to the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Friday for the one-night concert of Korean band, CNBLUE.
For the thousands of “Boice”--myself included -- who braved the incessant rains and deep floods and literally proved that we can’t be stopped, the risk to life and limb was all worth it. Lead vocalist Jung Yonghwa - my bias ;) , guitarist Lee Jonghyun - my 2014 bias wrecker (hihi), bassist Lee Jungshin (2013 bias wrecker), and drummer Kang Minhyuk made sure that their Filipino fans remember why they are Korea’s best rock act.
The boys were overwhelmed by the turnout, prompting Minhyuk to thank the audience in Filipino for coming despite the calamity: “Salamat sa pagpunta n’yo dito kahit may bagyo (Thank you for coming despite the storm).” They sang 23 songs -- a mix of old and new hits -- and dished out an unforgettable performance.
Before CNBLUE sang their last song “Love Light,” Yonghwa promised that they will come back to the Philippines.
“We (had) a good concert here in Manila with all of you even though the weather is bad. I’ll pray for you. We will come back here. I promise you. Very very salamat,” he said.
