Jeremy Hunt meet-and-greet drinks event cancelled after junior doctors buy tickets

Jeremy Hunt meet-and-greet drinks event cancelled after junior doctors buy tickets The Health Secretary was due to share wine and nibbles with Tory activists - until a bunch of junior doctors threatened to turn up No drinks with Jeremy this evening Jeremy Hunt has cancelled a 'meet and greet' drinks event tonight, after junior doctors bought tickets. The Health Secretary was to appear at the wine and nibbles night for Fareham Conservative Association - but it was scrapped after activists circulated the invitation on social media. The invitation to the £15-a-head fundraiser read: "Join the association & the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt for drinks and canapés at the Lysses House Hotel, High Street, Fareham." The event has been cancelled and removed from Fareham Tories' website. It's unclear how many doctors bought tickets for the event. / It comes just a day after Mr Hunt fled an angry junior doctor asking him tough questions about his plan to force new contracts on medics. In the clip Dr Dagan Lonsdale can be seen firing questions at the fleeing MP as he hurries to an office with his aides at his side. He quickly escapes the barrage of questions without answering any of them. Dr Lonsdale can he heard saying: "You have no evidence whatsoever that these changes will have a positive effect. "And in that you are taking a massive gamble with people in the NHS . GettyJeremy Hunt "You are taking a massive gamble with patients." And as Mr Hunt makes a dart into a side room, the doctor adds: "I don't know why you won't address that point." And today it emerged 11 out of the 20 NHS CEOs who Jeremy Hunt implied had backed his decision to impose new contracts on junior doctors had done nothing of the kind. 11 of the signatories have since said they thought the concessions Mr Hunt had made in his final offer were "fair and reasonable", they disagree with forcing the contracts on medics.
